Canadian Association of Police Boards Announces Funding for CyberPol
CALGARY, AB – Ian Wilms, president of the Canadian Association of Police Boards (CAPB), announced at its annual general meeting, the inaugural procurement of funding to establish a law enforcement presence in cyberspace.
“Crime in cyberspace has run rampant since the Internet was opened to the public,” Mr. Wilms told the CAPB at their annual meeting. “In the absence of reliable global statistics, it is very likely that actual losses due to cyber-crimes have reached into the billions of dollars and conceivably the tens of billions when lost sales and recovery costs are factored in.”
