CyberPol - The Global Centre for Securing Cyberspace Act
CALGARY, AB – Bill Pr1, CyberPol – The Global Centre For Securing Cyberspace Act, was given approval to move ahead by an all-party legislature committee on June 5, 2007. This private members bill would permit Alberta to establish the first international cyberspace policing centre. The objects of the centre are to establish and operate an international centre for the coordination and advancement of public safety, intelligence gathering, and government response, related to the problem of cybercrimes such as child exploitation, financial systems fraud, threats to critical infrastructure, intellectual property and identify theft. The bill is sponsored by MLA and former solicitor general Harvey Cenaiko.
